The material repair to metal components suffering material loss due to mechanical damage, erosion, corrosion or chemical attack.
The product is supplied in two parts with a base and activator once mixed MAXMET 700 – EXTENDED CURE EPOXY METAL REPAIR & REBUILDING COMPOUND provides a smooth grey paste ideally suited for repairs to steel components and other metallic and non metallic surfaces. The mixed the material can be applied in a single coat up to a thickness of 20.0mm without slumping.
The standard application method is by short bristled brush, plastic applicator or spatula. Completed repairs may be over-coated with any of our epoxy or polyurethane coating systems, providing additional long-term asset protection.
When mixed the product has a standard has a pot life of 60 mins. Once cured it is readily drilled and machined to fine tolerances or can be sanded to achieve the desired profile of the repair.

MAXMET 700 – EXTENDED CURE EPOXY METAL REPAIR & REBUILDING COMPOUND is a extend cure solvent free, epoxy repair and rebuilding compound, suitable for large repair areas where extra pot life is required. The material is suitable for repairs to metal components suffering material loss due to mechanical damage, erosion, corrosion or chemical attack.
All oil and grease must be removed from the surface of the repair using an appropriate cleaner such as MEK or similar solvent. For optimum performance, the surface should be grit-blasted to ISO 8501/4 Standard SA2.5 (SSPC SP10/ NACE 2) and a minimum blast profile of 75 microns using an angular abrasive.
Once blast cleaned, the surface must be degreased and cleaned using MEK or similar solvent. All surfaces must be repaired before gingering or oxidation occurs.
In the case of cracked surfaces, the cracks should be stabilised by drilling the termination points and the cracks veed out and drilled, tapped and bolted every 75-100 mm.
Where abrasive blast cleaning is not possible (excluding salt contaminated surfaces) the surface should be roughened by, needle gun or grinding.
In areas where the product should not adhere a thin layer of a suitable release agent should be applied taking care not to contaminate other areas.
For salt contaminated surfaces the area must be grit-blast cleaned as mentioned above and left for 24 hours to allow any ingrained salts to come to the surface.
After this 24-hour period the surface must be washed with MEK prior to brush blasting to remove the surface salts. This process must be repeated until all ingrained contaminants have been sweated out of the surface.
Warm the Base component to 15-25°C before mixing and do not apply when the ambient or substrate temperature is below 5°C or less than 3°C above dew point.
Mix PART B with PART A in full units as supplied. For small quantities us a mixing ratio of:
3:2 BY VOLUME OR 1.7:1 BY WEIGHT
When mixing both materials, it is very important to have a uniform streak free fluid. Once mixing is complete, the material should be used within 60 minutes at 20°C.
To ensure best results use the mixed fluid as soon possible after mixing.
Using a spatula or applicator tool, apply the material to the prepared surface, ensuring the product is pressed into any holes, scars or cracks and profile the repair to a smooth finish.
Where a machined finish is required, the repair area should be overfilled by up to 1.5mm and once hardened machined using a surface cutting speed of 200ft/minute and a feed rate of 50 thou/rev initially and 10 thou/rev for finishing.

Where the maximum over-coating time is exceeded, the material should be allowed to harden before being abraded, or flash-blasted and solvent washed to remove any surface contamination
