M-PIPE 200 – Pipe Repair Epoxy Resin & Hardener

Is a two pack, thixotropic epoxy resin for use with a range of reinforcing tapes and fabrics to produce high strength composite for pipe repairs and anti-corrosion pipe wrapping.

The mixed resin can be applied to manually prepared surfaces to create a GRP reinforcement layer around the entire circumference of leaking pipe or corroded pipe surface to prevent further corrosion.

By incorporating layers of high strength woven glass fibre reinforcing tape the pipe repair system is proven to give up to 10 years + protection to damaged, leaking or porous pipe surfaces.

Typical Uses

When used with either glass tape, glass matt, chop strand matt or linen scrim this product can be used to repair equipment such as:

Application Guide

  • All oil and grease must be removed from the surface using an appropriate cleaner such MEK or similar type solvent.
  • All surfaces must be abrasive blasted to ISO 8501/4 Standard SA2.5 (SSPC SP10/ NACE 2) minimum blast profile of 75 microns using an angular.
  • Once blast cleaned, the surface must be degreased and cleaned using MEK or similar type solvent.
  • All surfaces must be coated before gingering or oxidation.
  • All oil and grease must be removed from the surface using an appropriate cleaner such as MEK.
  • All surfaces must be mechanically abraded using handheld grinders to ISO 8501/4 ST3 (SSPC SP3 ST3).
  • Once abraded, the surface must be degreased and cleaned using MEK or similar type material.
  • All surfaces must be repaired before gingering or oxidation occurs.

For best results all surfaces should be grit-blasted, this will provide optimal adhesion and performance.

Prior to mixing please ensure the following:

  • The base component is at a temperature between 15-25°C.
  • Do not apply the material when the ambient or substrate temperature is below 5°C or less than 3°C above dew point.
  • Mix both Part-A and part-B together in full units as supplied. For small quantities us a mixing ratio of 2:1 by volume or 2:1 by weight
  • When mixing both materials, it is particularly important to have a uniform clear gel that is streak free.
  • Once mixing is complete, use the mixed paste as soon possible after mixing.

Use all mixed material within 20 minutes at 20°C.

  • Once the resins are mixed, apply a basecoat of M-PIPE 200 Epoxy Resin and Hardener to the pipe at a minimum wet film thickness of 1000 microns.
  • Using glass reinforced tape, wrap around the pipe with a 50% overlap, ensuring the tape is fully wetted with the resins.
  • Apply an intermediate coat of M-PIPE 200 Epoxy Resin and Hardener at a minimum wet film thickness of 500 microns.
  • Using glass reinforced tape, wrap around the pipe with a 50% overlap, ensuring the tape is fully wetted with the resins.
  • Apply a topcoat of M-PIPE 200 Epoxy Resin and Hardener at a minimum wet film thickness of 500 microns.
  • Once complete allow to cure.
  • If the repair is outside a UV Stable Topcoat may be applied.
