M-PRIME 100 – Low Viscosity Epoxy Concrete Primer

MaxPrime 100 -Epoxy concrete primer sealer, is a solvent-free clear epoxy primer, which provides outstanding penetration into concrete and other cementitious substrates and helps to consolidate weak surfaces.

Ideally used in conjunction  with other MaxKote lining or coating systems

Once mixed the product  is used for priming concrete floors, bunds and concrete structures with a moisture content below 8%.

Application Guide
Technical Data
Application Guide

  • Prepare the surface
  • Mix the material
  • Stripe coat all joints and seams
  • Apply the primer at a target film thickness of 150 microns
  • Allow for curing
Surface Preparation:

Remove any contamination and lightly abrasive blast or scarify taking care not to expose the aggregate. Allow new concrete to cure for a minimum 21 days and remove any surface laitance before coating. Ensure the moisture content of the concrete is 8% or below. Suitable for application where the surface temperature is 5°C (40°F) or above

Mix the base component (amber liquid) with the activator component (amber liquid) in full units as supplied, ideally, use slow speed paddle mixer. For small quantities us a mixing ratio of:

2:1 By volume or 2.25:1 by weight

When mixing both materials, it is essential to have a uniform clear fluid, that is streak free. Once mixed, the material should be used within 40-45 minutes at 20°C.

To ensure best results use the mixed fluid as soon possible after mixing.

Application Base Coat

Mix and apply the material directly to the prepared surface, using a brush, roller or squeegee. Check the wet film thickness on a regular basis ensuring correct coating thickness of a minimum 150 microns.

When coating concrete, apply the mixed material onto the prepared surface by brush or roller.

Coverage will depend on porosity and roughness but as a guide a practical coverage rate of 3 – 4 sq metres per litre is typical for the first coat and 5.5 sq metres per litre for subsequent coats. For priming a single coat should be applied, for coating, two or more coats should be used

 Usable life at  20°C

40-45 minutes

Over-Coating Times

Minimum – as soon as it is touch dry.

Maximum – over-coating time 36 hours.

Where the maximum over-coating time is exceeded, the material should be allowed to harden before being abraded, or flash blasted to  remove any surface contamination
